Custovia — Designing a Safer Way to Discover, Hire and Pay for Services
Custovia is a trust-based service marketplace and escrow platform designed to make transactions between customers and service providers safer, clearer and more accountable.
Challenge
Informal service transactions are often built on trust without much protection.
Customers may pay deposits before work begins, providers may complete jobs without certainty that the remaining payment will arrive, and disputes can quickly become difficult when agreements exist only through messages or phone calls.
Custovia needed to solve that trust problem without making the process feel complicated.
The interface had to bring several sensitive activities together:
discovering service providers,
creating professional profiles,
identity verification,
negotiating and confirming services,
funding transactions,
holding money in escrow,
tracking job progress,
releasing payments,
managing disputes,
viewing wallet activity.
The challenge was to make a financially secure system feel approachable enough for everyday service transactions.
Solution
We designed Custovia around a simple principle:
Trust should be visible throughout the transaction.
Instead of treating escrow as something happening quietly in the background, we made the transaction state clear at every important step.
The experience connected:
Discover → Verify → Agree → Fund → Deliver → Approve → Release
Customers could understand who they were hiring, what had been agreed, how much money was being protected and what needed to happen before funds were released.
Service providers could clearly see confirmed jobs, payment status and when funds became available.
KYC, wallet and escrow functionality were integrated into the wider service experience rather than presented as isolated financial tools.
Process
We started by mapping the relationship between the two primary sides of the platform: customers and service providers.
From there, we identified the critical moments where trust could break down and designed the product around those moments.
The major flows included:
account creation,
KYC verification,
service-provider onboarding,
profile creation,
provider discovery,
service requests,
transaction creation,
wallet funding,
escrow payment,
job progress,
customer approval,
fund release,
transaction history,
dispute handling.
Once the core journeys were established, we built reusable components for profiles, verification statuses, transaction cards, progress states, wallet activity, forms and admin operations.
The same product logic was then extended into the admin dashboard so the Custovia team could manage users, verification, transactions, payments and operational issues from one central environment.
