Select Punter — Turning Betting Skill Into a Structured gamified System

Sports betting platforms usually focus on placing bets. Select Punter needed to do something different: evaluate the person behind the bet.

The product had to measure skill through structured challenges while making rules around targets, stake limits, betslips, profit points and progression easy to understand.

Users could move through two- or three-phase evaluations, meet odds-based targets, submit a minimum number of betslips and operate within defined staking limits. The interface therefore had to make performance feel transparent at every stage.

At the same time, the product needed to communicate an important distinction: Select Punter was not another bookmaker. It was a performance and education platform designed around analysis, discipline and responsible betting.

The key UX challenge was turning a rules-heavy evaluation model into something that still felt exciting, competitive and simple to use.

We designed Select Punter around progress, clarity and performance.

Instead of presenting users with dense betting information, the experience was structured around a clear challenge journey:

Join Challenge → Analyse → Submit Betslips → Track Performance → Complete Phase → Qualify for Funding

The interface surfaced the information users needed most:

challenge target,

current Profit Points,

remaining target,

stake limits,

minimum betslip requirements,

completed betslips,

phase progress,

overall performance,

qualification status.

This allowed users to understand where they stood without having to interpret the underlying evaluation logic themselves.

We also designed the experience to extend beyond individual challenges through leaderboards, performance analytics and the Punters Marketplace, giving skilled users a way to build visibility around their track record.

We started by understanding the challenge model and breaking it down into smaller user decisions.

From there, we mapped the full journey from discovering Select Punter to completing an evaluation and potentially qualifying for a funded opportunity.

The main product areas were then structured around:

challenge selection,

challenge rules,

betslips,

progress tracking,

performance analytics,

leaderboards,

punter profiles,

marketplace discovery,

funded account status.

Once the information architecture was clear, we created reusable components for statistics, progress indicators, betslips, rankings, profile cards and challenge states.

The result was a system that could support multiple challenge types without changing the core user experience.
